Thurrock Local Safeguarding Children Partnership

Job Shadowing Scheme

The Safeguarding Partnership have agreed to support a job shadowing scheme to assist professionals to understand other roles across children's services and to support the improvement of communication as identified in  Case Reviews.

Job Shadowing can provide a unique and exciting opportunity to find out how other people really work and to gain experience of practice outside your own organisation.  It involves spending time with another person to learn about their work and how aspects of their job are performed.  This fosters a greater understanding amongst the children and young people’s workforce of each other’s roles and enables more effective integrated working.

What are the benefits?

Key benefits of job shadowing include:

  • Understanding more about particular roles and the current issues facing the children and young people’s workforce.
  • Enabling the children and young people’s workforce to work together more effectively.
  • Enhancing your own professional development.
  • Enhancing communication across the children and young people’s workforce.
  • Developing ongoing professional relationships and your communication and networking skills.
  • Breaking down cultural barriers, myths and stereotypes about how other partner organisations work.
  • Experiencing the culture of another organisation.
  • Developing observation, questioning, listening and feedback skills.

Please see the Job Shadowing  leaflet for more details of the scheme.  If you wish to proceed please download the application form.
